Re: Scholorships for Students
Have we decided the amount for each scholarship? Or something other than that, like providing stationary, uniform materials, etc for a whole year? Or giving them money directly? Or choose a moderator who can handle it and provide in monthly manner to each student?
As I remember we talked about deposit money (fund) & use interest for scholarships? Did wawla or gajan get any update from any financial center or bank what the maximum interest is? If we can use the interest of the fund it's the best. Or else for each scholarship, one or more E/96 mates can share. It's like let's say Muga & Me provide one scholarship and Jala & Wawla provide other. But in that case it's like personal will not make good picture in E/96 SRP. So the best thing is the first suggestion.
How do others think about that? And one more the way we provide scholarship to the students where it should not be wasted. Cos, once I did and passed the money to students parents, where student got nothing but parents used it. That also we have to monitor.
What about others thoughts?
Soos.

Schols ..............
Soos, your idea about take responsibility of schols by individuals or few ppl is really great. That way we can do more (Huge capital need to deposit to do something substantial using the interst) as I see.
We can do the schols in 2 methods,
1. Raise a fund and provide schol using interest (this method would yield best results in a long run)
2. Individuals take respnsibility of Schols (Money need to deposit at the start of the period by contributors, and then used monthly basis)
Any suggestions ?????

Re: Scholorships for Students
Maybe we can do both! .. have like one schol set up through interest.. that way atleast one scholarship will always be there.. and can give a few more for one or two years with what is collected. Making it the responsibility of the guys.. is there are a practical and easy way of doing it?
Soos... i only checked online.. but interest raets of close to 20% are for CDs or FDs at maturity .. typically after 1-2 yrs. The only thing i saw that came close was.. 17% for a 3 month CD by com bank. Buttttttt... if we give schols for the first year just though cash collections.. and deposit say 150K in the bank.. can give a schol for each year to come at a rate of 19-20%... which can be like two schols.
Who ever can .. should help Wawula and the rest by researching information. Is andrew here in the forum?

Machan la,
This is something came to my mind. Usually Celinco / Commercial (even people's bank) like people seek publicity. So if we talk to them regarding our project they may agree to offer us an outstanding interest rate for our deposite in exchange of some advertizing for them. What you guys think about it and should we talk to them and see?

Our Motive...
My Opinion is, intention of all donation should be purely to help needy students for their education or related things. Other motives like Publicity/Advertising/Image building could distort the purpose of this effort and could drive this to a different direction.
If an organization or a person like to help this project without expecting anything return, I agree we should accept that. Otherwise, I'm not very sure whether we doing the right thing.

Re: Scholorships for Students
I thought that some reasonable exchange would give us advantage to support more students. In return we will have to let those bank guys come and participate the event with some insitu advertizing and ongoing advertizing like a perment banner at the school. Third parties would never support us without seeking an advantage of it. If we can get something like 5% interest increment, I would still see a worth trying. Even the publicity of this nature would not harm our purpose , sometimes it may lead more people to do similar good things in future.
What other guys think about it?

Re: Scholorships for Students
What saba suggest is really nice and helpful too. But I personally disagree in doing this or getting support for this by let other parties publicity, advertising. As it kills the spirit of the thing what we gonna do. I had same experience here as the total program was a success & in return we managed to pass the target as well. But something was missing during the program as it was more commercialized.
I think & know the people who agreed to count them in for this program will provide the support in all the ways where the driving team got to put their strength additionally to manage (I mean they are the most supportive). This time replies are more and many of our batchas/batchees are in good positions where they can support to this program and I'm pretty sure we can achieve the target.
That's my personal thought & agree the decision of the majority what ever it is.
